General description
General description
Introduction
This method is used for determining the ductility of bituminous materials by measuring the elongation before breaking when two ends of briquette specimens are pulled apart at a specified speed and temperature.
Conforming to the ASTM D113, D6084 and EN 13398 standards, the test is performed in water at a temperature of 25±0.5°C (ASTM/AASHTO) or 25±0.2°C (EN) at a constant speed of 50 mm/min.
The EN 13589 and 13703, also require the test to be performed from 5 to 30°C, at the testing speed adjustable up to 100 mm/min, and the determination of the tensile properties of modified bitumen. This Research performance model, fitted with the Load cells and the suitable Water chiller (see accessories) fully satisfy these requirements.
Controls produce other models as the standard ductilometer conforming to ASTM D113, ASTM D6084, and EN 13398; and a high performance version (code 81-PV10B02/04) performing testing speed up to 100 mm/min and suitable for testing at temperatures from 4 to 30°C. See  links below.
 
General description
Water bath
-Stainless steel frame with insulated water bath, heating system located on all base surface for better uniformity and cooling coil (for connection to water mains or chiller)distributed on three side walls assuring temperature uniformity without water turbulence inside the bath. All parts in contact with water are made of stainless steel
 Carriage displacement
-Double  screws rods and mobile carriage  to perform test speeds from 1 to 200 mm/min. The system also permit the fast return of the carriage at the end of the test : 500 mm/min  to reduce the dead time and  for more productivity. The carriage return is automatic so manual interventions are not required. The double screw rods grant a high accessibilty to the sample holders and the tank.
Temperature control
-By closed loop PID system which assure constant temperature within ±0.2°C
-Plate-type base heaters for better temperature uniformity
-Thermoregulation system based on the control of the heat supplied to the bath by the heater and the heat decrease by controlling the flow rate of the cooling coil. This important feature assure the temperature control within strict limits and permit the use of suitable standard chillers.

Load and elongation measurement
Automatic measurement of the elongation by a optical system and of the test load of the four testing lines. Maximum tensile force 2000N.
Testing software
-Selection of test parameters (speed, temperature etc.) by PC. The test temperature, however, can be set in advance by the control panel of the machine without  the use of PC that can be switched on just before the test .
-Test control by PC: Start-Stop-Carriage return
-Specimen failure recognition function

Water cooling
This model is proposed without chiller (81-PV10C12-14) for use with a suitable cooling system that could be available in the laboratory. It is however important that this unit must be capable of delivering a flow rate of 6 l/min, 1 bar, at the minimum temperature of -20°C.
